I was reminded of this quote last night from our HeartStories sisters, inside the private GNO Facebook group. I shared a post about life rarely working out as planned and asked a simple question to share any surprises life has brought. Their responses were so encouraging. They told stories of lifelong dreams that didn’t come to pass, or things working out entirely differently from how they had planned.
It was beautiful.
Even my own journey of meeting Scott started because as a flight attendant I missed a page for a trip. Which doesn’t sound like a very big deal, but I needed the money, and when you miss your trip, you don’t get paid for that whole week. If you’d have told me there were better things ahead for me that week, I might not have believed you. But I’d say that’s turned out pretty well.
Certainly not exactly as I expected, but better than I could have EVER planned.
These thoughts prompted me as soon as I woke up this morning. Maybe you need a reminder this morning, that just because you can’t see what’s ahead doesn’t mean it’s not going to work out for your good. . . even for your best. Maybe you feel like you’re leaving, or saying goodbye to the best you’ve ever had. Or maybe you feel stuck in a situation that feels second best, not at all what you were hoping for, or expecting. Sometimes it’s hard to see how anything in the world could be better than where you’ve been, or where you planned to be.
But I’ve learned that if you stay open, connected and expectant you will grow.
You will become a person who finds better things ahead.
And that’s a daily choice, only you can make.
to more love,
