What makes you come alive?

As I rounded the corner towards Oakley’s room to say goodnight, I noticed how unusually still and quiet things seemed.  That’s when I saw this.  He was sitting quietly on the floor, holding an iPad, attached to his headphones, that were snuggly placed on Hartley’s ears.  Clearly, she was listening to one of his favorite songs.

And it appeared as if she was actually enjoying it.

You see, this boy is fascinated with music.  He would have it playing in the kitchen, in the car, in his room or in his headphones, 24/7 if he could.  He sings along, at the top of his lungs, with all the passion you’ve ever seen.  So naturally, he’d want to share that experience with Hartley.  It only makes sense that she would love it too, right?  Well, I’m not 100% sure.  Maybe she did, but there’s one thing I know for sure.

That’s how we’re meant to live.

Sharing our passions makes the world a better place.  By “the world” I mean, the people in your family, your neighbors, and your work.  The people in your circle, however small it is, benefit when you have the courage to show up and be yourself.  When you lean in to the things that make you come alive and share them with others it changes the world.

Drip, by drip, by drip.

“Don’t ask what the world needs.  Ask what makes you come alive, and go do that. Because what the world needs are more people who have come alive.” ~ Harold Whitman.

You never know, music for dogs could totally become a thing.   But even if it doesn’t, sharing that kind of joy makes my boy come alive and that’s exactly what we need.

What makes you come alive?

to more love,

Crystal
