The moment the boys come racing down the stairs to discover what “Santa” brought them for Christmas, has been a my favorite moment of the holiday season to capture on camera for over a decade now. I know we’re near the end with these growing teenagers we have around here, so I cherished it even more than usual this year.
It was a wild ruckus!
They were chomping at the bit, as ready as ever. What a wonderful moment to see their delight in the magic of the Christmas moment. I can hardly believe it’s already over! The magical moments of Christmas, that we’ve planned for and looked forward to all season long, are over. The gifts are open, the drones are crashed (the dents in my walls hold the evidence), the Legos are built, and the pine needles are strewn all across the floor. The recycle bin is overflowing with Amazon boxes and my office (AKA – Santa’s workshop) looks like the aftermath of a wrapping paper factory explosion.
The “magic moment” of Christmas is over, but this week brings so much more.
This week brings the building anticipation, hope and expectation for the coming year. As you reflect on 2017, you close the chapter full of memories, laughter, joy, and even the struggles, and tears. This week, you get a unique moment to cement all of the things that will serve you in the new year. All of the learning, all of the joy, all of the love, it’s yours to keep. You can hold it all in our heart and mind throughout 2018. You also get a special chance to let go of anything that won’t serve you next year. You can leave it in the past.
This is your chance to choose what you will cultivate in 2018.
It’s time to start over. But not as the same person you were. The older, wiser, more loving, you, is heading into 2018.
We can’t wait to see what you will do.
to more love,
