They say life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans. I believe “them”. Especially when I see this picture. This is Amanda Acreman. She’s the Lab Manager at Serendipity Labs, which is a beautiful new upscale coworking space here in Frisco. We met serendipitously through a tip from my friend Elizabeth, who curates events at another venue here in town. Elizabeth and I had been working for several months to see if there was a way HeartStories could grow into their space as a next step in our Girls Night Out journey, but it seemed that no matter how we sliced it, it wasn’t going to be a fit. I wanted that venue to work, so badly.
I was sad to even need to consider another space.
I couldn’t imagine that a co-working space would be a fit for what we were doing. I couldn’t see how they would have a space big enough to hold us or that the environment would have the right “vibe” for a GNO. But I took Elizabeth’s tip to connect with Amanda, and check out this exciting new space. I did LOVE the name and it looked fantastic online. That day, I called Amanda and it just so happened that they were hosting their official launch party/open house the following night. My schedule was jam packed and I had one of the boys with me during that time, but I told her we would stop by on a “date”.
I felt it the moment I walked in.
Serendipity had the vibe. From the location with covered parking garage, to the stunning lighting, to the gorgeous art installations in the lobby to the bright colors, modern aesthetics and warm, friendly staff who greeted us, I knew this was the place. I knew the space would require me to stretch and grow, to envision a different schedule for the night, with rotating workshops and standing gatherings, AND I knew that kind of stretching would be so good for all of us.
It absolutely has been.
Amanda has become a dear and trusted friend, both to me and everyone on the HeartStories Team. She’s bent over backwards to accommodate our community. And guess what? Our GNO Community LOVES Serendipity Labs too! The space, the staff, the schedule, and the separate workshops. . . they’ve all been a huge hit. It should be no surprise.
It’s SERENDIPITY!

It’s a beautiful picture of what happens when you show up for the hard things. You do all the difficult work. You surround yourself with people who are aligned with your goals and mission. Sometimes you never find the thing you were looking for.
You find something better.
You just have to be open enough to see it.
Maybe what you’re looking for today is a lot like Serendipity!
