It started one Sunday morning in January 2011. Our church had several organizations that fight human trafficking and sexual exploitation come to share with us and educate us. The Super Bowl was coming to Dallas and they wanted us to know what to watch for.
I heard a story that day that caused a huge shift in my heart.
After drying my tears, I talked with Scott about what we could do. We were both so busy at the time, we didn’t know how we could get involved so that day, we signed up to donate money monthly to the cause.
But I knew I was meant to do more.
I thought I could just let that knowing simmer. I thought I could go on about my busy life, juggling a career and my roles as a mother and wife. I thought nothing had really changed.
I was wrong.
One story. It changed my life forever. It caught my attention and took over my heart piece by piece.
But it didn’t happen all at once.
At first, it was just an awareness, then a tug, then an intrigue, then a need to do more, and now my life is centered around a passion to empower women, in all different ways, to live the stories of their hearts.
All because of that one moment, that one story.
Pursuing that passion has been a winding path that’s led me to where I am today, on a journey of connecting women to live the stories of their hearts. As a result, one of the things HeartStories is focused on is supporting female social entrepreneurs and all the amazing good they do in the world.
So of course, we are thrilled to collaborate with My Refuge House to put on the second annual Fashioned for Freedom event!
This event was incredible sell-out success last year. We are so excited about helping to connect the socially responsible aspect to it this year. The clothing you’ll see on the runway is making a positive impact on real people’s lives all around the world.
On top of that, when was the last time you enjoyed a runway show, at a museum, in cocktail attire, with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and shopping? Incredible!
This show is a such unique opportunity to support the wonderful work of My Refuge House while also supporting entrepreneurs committed to making a positive impact in the world.
And for me, it all started with a moment, a story.
