This is, apparently, my cork board selfie. While we’ve been endlessly purging this home we’ve lived in for almost 15 years, the hardest things to let go of are the keepsakes. The creations of art made by the boys over all the years are like little one-of-a-kind treasures. Letting go of the stained glass, pottery, paintings and pictures of years gone by is emotionally difficult for the boys and me.
Clearing out the giant cork board in my office was no exception.
It was covered, top to bottom, with their handwork, so I asked the boys to do it. They each got a basket to stack their work neatly inside, with the promise that we’d take a photo of each piece. At first it was so hard, but then they started laughing and enjoying the process. I left them there to get it done while I moved on to another room.
When I returned the entire board was completely clear, except for this lovely piece.
“Can you tell what it is Mama?”
“Of course! It’s a smiling face and the word Love.”
“Yep. It’s you Mom.”
Let’s just say in the aftermath of the purging process, while building a house and running a business, it melted my heart that they still associate the word Love with me. I feel like a raving lunatic half of the time.
Like my eyes actually look that crazy.
Life is hard. It can be stressful. You won’t always do it right. You will need grace and forgiveness. You will need second chances. Because of that, you’ll be able give them too.
That’s the beauty of the dance.
You might have some crazy looking eyes at times, but if Love is your banner, it’s all going to be alright.
You’re going to be alright.
I see you crazy-eyes.
Keep going, with love.
to more love,
Crystal
(Tonight is the night! We’re all going to show our crazy eyes, and our love. “Let’s Get Together” GNO. I know getting there is hard, but once you do, you’ll feel a little less crazy. I promise. Make it happen. )
