Your story becomes your light

There’s this song that I hear on the radio on the radio often that stays in my head a lot.  I tried to read the lyrics at a GNO and cried like a baby because I feel them so much.  But they were on my heart so strong this morning so maybe they are for you.  Read these word from the perspective of a friend, a loving friend who wants nothing but the best for you, a friend who sees you for all the beauty that you are.

Because when I hear this song, I think of you I think of your beautiful face and your brutiful story.

I think of the unexpected experiences, the things you don’t understand, and even the pain you’re going through right now, that is shaping you into the beautiful woman you’re meant to be.  It’s all giving you context, shaping your story, giving you empathy and a special place that only you can shine your light in this world.

So read these words with me, coming straight from my heart to yours.   Even if I don’t know you, I know these words are true.

Mended Matthew West

How many times can one heart break?

It was never supposed to be this way.

When you look in the mirror, you see someone you never thought you’d be.

Oh, but I can still recognize,

The one I love in your tear-stained eyes

I know you might not see her now, so lift your eyes to me.

When you see broken beyond repair,

I see healing beyond belief.

When you see too far gone,

I see one step away from home.

You see your worst mistake,

But I see the price Love paid.

So hold on, it’s not the end.

No, this is where Love’s work begins.

I see who you’re becoming.

You see the scars from when you fell,

But I see the stories they will tell.

You see worthless, I see priceless.

You see pain, but I see a purpose.

You see unworthy, undeserving,

But I see you through eyes of mercy.

When you see nothing but damaged goods,

I see something good in the making

When you see wounded, I see mended.

Let those words soak in for a minute.  Think about how life would be different, if every time we looked at each other as women, instead of judgement for who we’ve been, the choices we’ve made, how we look, the clothes we’re wearing or how we’re parenting, we saw each other as completely mended, for a beautiful purpose in this world?

That’s what HeartStories and the GNO’s are all about.

Yes, of course we have fun.  We laugh, rest and talk about fun things women enjoy, but we do it with a different lens. We’re coming together, to see beyond the thin facade of our exterior appearances, straight into each other’s hearts to love and support each other on our individual journeys to uncover and live the stories only each of us can live.  By sharing our stories, we are reminded we are never alone and yet, our stories have given us a light that is uniquely ours to shine in this world.

Your pain has a purpose.

Even if you don’t feel “mended” quite yet.  Even if you see nothing but damaged goods. . . sister, there is something so good in the making.  Hold on, it’s not the end.  You’re story is not finished yet.

Your story is becoming your light.

And yours is a light we so desperately need.

to more love,

Crystal
