The stories you leave behind

The stories you leave behind, HeartStories

Last Tuesday, in a last-ditch effort to find a holiday pet sitter for our pups, the boys and I took a wrong turn.  We ended up in this cemetery, following a lost dog (be still my bleeding heart).

The boys saw a headstone that intrigued them so naturally, we stopped the car to check it out. 😉  As we approached, we realized it was an area devoted to one entire family.  Reading the names, dates and inscriptions led us to begin imagining the stories of each of their lives.

We talked about which ones where alive at the same time and how each was related.  We even decided that one particular mother surely must have died of a broken heart after having lost three young children, three straight years in a row.  That was heartbreaking.

We could have stayed for hours.

As we drove away, the conversation continued.  They were full of questions about life and death and the stories we leave behind.  Their curiosity is a great reminder.

Whether in life or death, our lives are leaving stories behind.

Every choice you make today is part of the story you leave behind.  This includes the choice to cling to or leave behind, the stories of your past, that no longer serve you.  It’s even the choice to leave 2015 behind, all the good and the bad, making 2016 a blank slate.

What you do next becomes your story.

As we move into 2016, you get to decide.  It’s totally up to you.  The next move is yours.

What’s it gonna be?

I can’t wait to see!

to more love,

Crystal
