Moving forward with the right people

Have you ever interacted with someone and realized instantly that relationship with them would be easy?  Over the years in my previous careers, and with HeartStories, I’ve interviewed a lot of people.  I’ve sat across the table, connected via Skype, Google Hangout, and email.  I’ve heard a lot of stories and listened to a lot of dreams.  There have been moments of hope, that this person would be the perfect fit.  And moments of painful endurance, knowing there was no chance it would work, but we needed to politely proceed.

But this gal, Jackie, she broke the mold.

From our very first interaction via email, she was prompt, professional and kind, all of the things you would expect.  (In fact, I sent an immediate note to Heather saying, “Do we even need to interview her?  Can we hire her already?”)  As soon as we spoke, it was quickly evident that our mission and purpose in the world was already understood.   She needed no explanation, women living their purpose is woven into the fabric of who she is.

Her story is fascinating.

She moved from California to Texas for college, with no intention of ever going back.  Her parents modeled and encouraged her to be a kind, generous, and confident person who makes a difference in the world.  And she’s doing just that.  She’s young, but she’s so incredibly bright.  She’s traveled the world to gain experience, while working to learn, not just to be paid.

She’s full of heart, and stories!

Needless to say, Jackie has joined our team to bolster our social media presence.  She’ll be representing HeartStories around the interwebs and at our GNOs.  (Be sure to say hello!)  While it’s hard for me to relinquish the reins of our brand voice, I trust Jackie’s heart and her wisdom.  Of course, there will be bumps in the road.  But I’ve learned that heading in the right direction, with the right people, is the most important part of any journey.

That’s true for you too.

Sometimes it may feel like hunkering down and going it alone is the only way to survive.  But I’m telling you, no matter how daunting the road ahead, moving forward with the right people is the only way through.

So look around you today.

Grab hands with your people, your right people, and keep going.
