Interesting accidents

Interesting accidents, HeartStories

Have you ever accidentally mixed two foods on your plate and realized you liked it?  Have you ever spilled paint on your canvas and decided to leave it because it actually looked kind of cool?  What about double-booking a meeting time and ending up introducing two people who became friends?

Accidents can be frustrating.

We want and expect our lives to go exactly as planned and when it doesn’t it often puts us in a tizzy.  But often, if we look for it, something beautiful, or at least interesting can come from them.

The key is in what we are looking for.

If we’re expecting frustration, disappointment, or the judgment of others,  we will surely find it.   But if we’re looking for the unique, interesting, unplanned opportunity to surface, we will find that too.

It was pouring snow here in Utah yesterday and I was trying so hard to get a picture of it, but every picture I got looked like it was as clear as day out.  So strange.  Then, apparently while trying to get the phone back in my pocket, I snapped this one.

These are usually the photos I go through and delete.  The accidents.  But this time, I got the snow!  I would have never thought to take a picture of our chair and pants to catch it.   I was only looking in the beautiful lush landscape covered in the drifting snow.

But it was hiding in the mistake.

I wonder what’s hiding in your accidents today.

I wonder how you’d change if you look for it.

There’s only one way to find out.
